A conundrum on this hot day....
This time we have a riddle for you.... What do the following dates have in common: April 5, April 6, April 8, May 21, June 2 and today, June 26....
I hear you thinking.Â
What will it be.
Some random data...
Okay here it comes.Â
It was hot... Call it hot... Very hot. Time after time the hottest day of the year, until the next one surpasses it....
And maybe it is an open door, but there is one thing that is very important on days with these temperatures. Drinking. Lots and lots of drinking. But again, not too much. And alcohol doesn't count 😉 But what is allowed?
Century-old myth...
There has been a misunderstanding about the diuretic effect of coffee for as long as people have been drinking it. Coffee does not have this effect. Various studies have shown that coffee does not have a diuretic effect. Coffee contains caffeine (another open door...), promotes concentration and has an invigorating and diuretic effect. Diu-what? Diuretic. This means that the production of urine in the kidneys is stimulated. This causes you to urinate just a little faster after drinking a cup of coffee. Our advice? Drink a glass of water with it.... Then you can be sure to keep your fluid levels up.Â
Another strange story....
Maybe you've heard it before. It is said that when you are hot it is better to have a cup of coffee or tea instead of that ice-cold glass of water. Your body would then cool down in response to the temporary increase in your body temperature. It's a good story. And also true. But there's a but. In order for your body temperature to drop, you would have to drink HUGE amounts of hot beverages, otherwise there is no effect. Â
So our advice! Drink plenty of delicious coffee! And of course plenty of water…Â
